how to save?
Legend of Xenia 3D
A downloadable game for Windows
Tiny first-person Zelda-like with a resolution of just 64x64 pixels.
The third game in the Legend of Xenia series, it's a sort of reimagining of the first game but now in 3D!
A young girl wakes up on a beach, with no memories of how she got there. Explore the island, meet new friends, fight baddies, and learn the truth about who you are!
Made in 2 weeks for LOWREZJAM 2018 where 64x64 resolution was a requirement, stop complaining about the resolution 😅 — if you feel your eyes burning: try playing in a smaller window; try the new anti-aliasing option; or use the secret hi-res mode (H+I+Enter) :P
I had a lot of cool ideas that I wanted to do, but didn't have time for during the jam. I wanted to update the game post-jam but never did, probably never will.

This hurts my eyes in the best way
Nice gameplay, i just didn't know where to go, i mostly was exploring .
I made a video about it if someone is interested.
is there any way so that i can increse the resolution?
when the first gate opens(and i assume the other ones too), if you time it just right, jump onto the closing gate and then immediatly onto the shelf you can skip the other two gates. I dont know if this is a intentional developer backdoor or a actual bug, but it just lets you skip the whole game. Other than that, really fun game!
Can you make a linux version of this game?
excellent, just like the other xenia games!
Just played through you game for YT. I really enjoyed it, and this has great potential! I can see adding new spells, enemies, areas, and even a boss fight!
Is there PS4 Controller compatibility? If there isn't, it's totally fine, I can play keyboard and mouse
is it possible to get the potions seller to sell me his strongest potions, for I can totally handle them, unlike that dimwitted traveler outside?
Man I wish this would be finished :(
Why this game detect dualshock 4, but in game controller not worked? Thats stupid, please fix this
P.S. I am from Russia, because sorry for worst english
Everything except rumble works on Dualshock 4 when I try it (both wired or via Bluetooth), so I don't know what to tell you... 🤔
Are you running some third-party drivers like DS4Windows or the Steam Big Picture controller setup? If so, maybe try disabling them?
Or maybe try plugging the controller in at different times, like while the game isn't running, or while the game is running, see if that makes a difference?
First, i used wired connection, but controller not worked. Second, i used bluetooth connection and ds4win, activated Dinput only and no reaction, controller not worked
P.S. for connection i closed game first, and sorry for worst english
i love this game a LOT, do you ever plan on finishing it? no pressure, but i was just wondering lol
Hopefully. I ended up feeling very burnt out after the jam, so progress stopped due to that. One day I'd like to get back to it (like all of my other unfinished games lol...)
Cool game, how do i save?
I loved this game, I also made a video for my youtube channel, Check it out if you want.
Cool game, what engine did you use?
The "More Information" section says "Game Maker: Studio".
Cool game with nice art style !
I love this--Mostly.
It's got the classic Zelda feel it seems like it was going for down pat. It's got a good use of resources in enemy designs, making the three slimes feel distinct in behavior and I do love that skull guy. The overall area map is well done and thought out. I'm into this. This is my Jam with a capital J.
My only real critique going forward is to be very careful with that low-rez effect. I played through to the end with it on and was enjoying myself, but finding a creeping nausea as I continued onward. I'm not normally someone who suffers from simulation sickness--I usually have to dip into VR before I start having that, but it was there and it was undeniable. I also experienced some issues with staying oriented, but I'm not entirely sure that wasn't to design. After reaching the end and learning how to turn it off, I was actually kind of shocked; this game is pretty. Your textures look great and I felt like a lot of the models actually felt like they had even more character without it. I respect the developer's creative decision to use the filter, but I hope going forward they'll consider tweaking it so it's less severe or even giving the user the ability to shut it off up front via a menu.
Even with that though? Full marks, especially for a gam jam entry. I love it and hope to see more soon!
Honestly man I'd love to play this game for my youtube channel if the resolution was a bit bigger like 128 x128 or something, its a little hard on the eyes when your playing it, but this definetly has potential, keep up the good work!
There's a seeeecret hi-res mode
HI Enter 😉
64x64 and 64 days ago?
how did you do 3d like this in gamemaker!?
it is like zelda
One of the small amount of games that manages to recreate the old-feeling gameplay with modern controls.
Just had a quick play. Love it! Can't wait to play more on my lunch break :D
Nice game so far! Makes me want to do more Zelda-likes!
So, when can we expect the next update?
I don't know. I've been sick for a while, and have had a few other commitments, but it is slowly being worked on.
The software rendering REALLY lags my low spec laptop (Pentium b970)
Is there a way to make it use GPU instead?
this game cool!
This is actually an interesting concept. The graphics are kind of a puzzle all on their own
super cool game, i wish it had more gameplay. also a boss battle at the end would be perfect. you should add more swords and spells. maybe equip 1 spell at a time but two wepons at the same time. that would give you more attack speed. Armor should be a part of this game too. Chapters with differend bosses and mini-bosses, potions should be a think while keeing the game good and simple
This was really cool. I never played the original, but I loved how you made it 3D but kept it all pixels. Great work :D
Really cool game! One question, is the northern shrine in the prototype? I only managed to find the southern, eastern and western shrines.
It is not
i didnt fimd any shrines... just three chest with keys inside of them
I appear to have played the game or something I guess
This was actually pretty awesome. I hope you make this into a full fledged title!
I was pretty pleasantly surprised by this one! For the limitations of the lowrezjam, it all works quite well. My eyes did burn a bit at first, but I quickly got the hang of it. My only minor grievance is that the enemies felt like small annoyances. They didn't provide any rewards and could mostly just be walked around. Other than that I had fun with the short playthrough. I'd be happy to see more of your stuff in the future. Thanks for putting it up here!
I could play this for weeks if there was that much content! Lovely art great sounds and dialogue. Its just so charming i want more!
